The Majestic Hotel originally designed by the Dutch architectural firm Keyes and Dowdeswell for the Trustees of Estate of Loke Wan Tho, the youngest son of the businessman and philanthropist Loke Yew. The structure was built in 1932 and become one of the great hotels in Kuala Lumpur at it become the place for glamourous social events, government receptions and the residence for prominent international visitors.

By 1970s, however, the hotel had lost its lustre, giving way to bigger and more luxurious hotels. Saved from demolition by the government, The Majestic Hotel was gazetted as a heritage building under the Antiquities Act. At the end of 1983, the last guest checked out and the hotel become home to the National Art Gallery from 1984 until 1998 as it relocated to its current premises by YTL Hotels.

The Majestic Hotel only hotel in Kuala Lumpur to be included in the Leading Hotels of the World luxury hotel collection. The affiliation verifies that the hotel meets a demanding set of quality standards which serve as the benchmark for the luxury hospitality industry, putting it in the company of some of the best hotels in the world. Accommodation is housed in the Majestic Wing and the Tower Wing, separate buildings linked by a glass enclosed air-conditioned walkway. The Majestic Wing is the original historic hotel building and the 47 luxurious suites exude old world elegance and impart a sense of history. Despite the vintage charm, the suites also feature tastefully modern furnishings, a perfect mix of past and present. All suites enjoy 24 hour butler service. Choose from a Colonial Suite, Governor Suite and the most opulent of all, the two Majestic Suites.

The two Majestic Suites offer the ultimate in luxurious indulgence, with over 100 square metres of space. A large open plan living area includes plush sofa seating, a separate dining area and a guest powder room. The décor is distinctly colonial with an art deco twist. These well-appointed one bedroom suites feature a spacious bedroom with walk-in wardrobe. The sumptuous suite bathroom has a separate rain shower and claw foot bathtub.

The Tower Wing features 253 guestrooms and suites, and complements the original building in the art deco style with the use of dark marble and polished chrome. The difference is subtle yet distinct, with a more contemporary and sophisticated feel in the design and furnishings, including plush carpeting and elegant four poster beds. Room categories include Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites, Grand Suites and Premier Suites.

The Majestic Ballroom provides a magnificent backdrop for weddings, receptions, gala events and corporate meetings. Situated on the second floor and flooded with natural light, it is directly accessible from the main lobby and car park by separate lifts as well as escalators. One of the largest pillar-less function spaces in Kuala Lumpur, it seats 1,200 for a banquet or 1,500 theatre-style. In this elegant environment with dramatic chandeliers, plush carpeting and a built-in stage, the bride and groom will surely sparkle as they make their way up the aisle.
