New 5 star hotel in central KK | Sea and City view rooms | Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu
World-renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma is integrating inspiration taken from the natural surroundings into inviting social areas, including a rooftop bar with views of the South China Sea, at Hyatt Centric’s exciting scheme in Sabah.
A milestone development
In May 2019, Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that it had signed a management agreement with Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad to develop this hotel in Kota Kinabalu. On opening, Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu aims to connect ‘savvy, in-the-now guests with shareworthy experiences at and around the property’.
The hotel is located at the heart of Kota Kinabalu, the gateway to Sabah state in Borneo, providing access to shopping, restaurants and a number of attractions. Guests can also explore Sabah’s national parks and visit nearby islands from The Jesselton Point pier.
Adding extra convenience, the under-construction hotel is only around 10 km from the airport.
A new lifestyle hub for Sabah
Architect and interior designer Kengo Kuma will reflect the Hyatt Centric brand’s light-hearted philosophy, while also drawing influence from the verdant hills and blue ocean, and incorporating local materials. The 150-key property will comprise an all-day lounge and restaurant, along with more than 1,900 sq ft of event space, a fitness centre and, perhaps most appealingly, a rooftop swimming pool and bar with views of the South China Sea.
